Pros:It seems to be sturdy and well built.

I really like the palm rest - it's hard plastic (so it won't get sticky over time) but is still comfortable; it has a subtle texture that adds some grip. It's a full keyboard, and all of the keys are in the right place. While keyboard shopping, I was unpleasantly surprised by how many full desktop keyboards around this price level have the key to the left of enter, and a weird narrow/tall enter. Razer apparently is wise enough to understand 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'.Cons:I was looking for a keyboard with as little key travel / key press force as a typical laptop keyboard, and found this recommended somewhere. It's ok, but it's not quite there.

It's about the same travel as the Logitech illuminated keyboard (which is also not-quite-laptop), but the keypresses take a bit more force. The labels on the keys are all 90-degree angles / pixelated. @ and & wouldn't be recognizable without context, and the whole look is kind of ugly. Click to expand.Sadly, as others have mentioned, you simply can't do this with the DeathStalker Chroma. It is not a software problem, but a hardware problem. So no software you download will fix it.The problem is the logic board can't talk to each individual LED in the DeathStalker like it can in the BlackWidow Chroma. It can only talk to 3 'chunks' or zones of LEDs at the same time. Therefore, the DS keys do not have individually programmable backlighting. This saves cost.

It is similar to the Tartarus (can only change all the keys at the same time) vs the Orbweaver (can change each individual key). This diagram shows the 3 lighting zones the DS has.
