I love Razer's dedication to the gaming community, but I have always shied away from they're keyboards. For years they were glossy plastic pieces that just feel like quality craftsmanship that I could beat in and enjoy during demanding gaming sessions. When I saw the new chroma, I had to have one, so I sold a kidney and snagged it up. My God am I glad I did. I don't need 15 macro keys and a gigantic footprint on my desk, and Razer answered the call. The Blackwidow Chroma has 5 macro keys (perfect for a Blade & Soul player like myself), RGB lighting, Razer's green switches, and a usb and audio pass through. And the best part?

No extra junk to enlarge the physical size of the sturdy, handsome design that seamlessly blends with any desktop setup. The Synapse control of the lighting is superb as well as macro setup. With all of this I was thrilled to login to my B&S account and wreak havoc on the Ceruleans, but looks and behold as I fired up the game, all my key lights shut off. But then something magic happened. My wasd keys lit red, my attack keys lit up different colors according to the attack type, and as I completed missions, leveled, and interacted with npc's, the keyboard changed colors with cooldowns, unavailable keystrokes blacked out, and interaction keys during combos lit up and disappeared with the order to be pressed. Holy hell batman Razer has blown me away.

I thought I was happy with my old Orbweaver, but now I need to purchase the newest version. The keyboard is proof Razer's not joking around anymore. The green switches have an incredibly short throw to be recognized as clicked without bottoming out. They're a little stiff, which may be something for someone else to complain about, but to me it is the perfect balance of force and reaction time. Razer I am impressed, very impressed.

Good:- Very clicky- No additional drivers to install- Very easy to configure the colors (flashing/strobing/etc) using FN key combinations included in the tiny manual. I'm always grateful for good instructions.Not good:- In many settings (like when it lights up in response to keystrokes) the colors don't look very bright. If you're going to spend a lot of money on a keyboard that lights up with flashing colors, you want fireworks.

I don't think the trouble is really the brightness. In those modes the keys that aren't lit shine a white light that reflects off the metal base, obscuring all of the other colors and dulling the effect. It would be better if they were left dark.- The main area (not counting arrows and number pad) is narrower than my Logitech G710. Maybe I'd get used to it.- the numlock and caps lock indicators are positioned just above the number pad where they can't be seen from a normal typing angle. You have to lean forward to see them.

They made room at the top for three bright blue LEDs that don't do anything at the top - why not put indicators there?- The six huge, bright blue LEDs (three on each side) don't do anything, but they're way brighter than the backlighting. Why add lights that only dull the effect of the RGB backlighting? Had it for just under a year and a few of the keys started going out. I contacted the support email and in 4 days finally had an RMA number and a label. After a week of shipping and a week back I received the replacement. Thinking well at least thats over, after taking the replacement out of the box the it doesn't light up or seemingly turn on at all.

So i respond to my open case get a new case and am issued another RMA number. I ask for some options so i dont have to wait 2 weeks to receive the additional replacement and they told me that they could A) Charge a credit card until they receive the faulty unit ( understandable but I don't necessarily have the means to put almost $200 on hold for a month thanks) B) send it in and after 2 weeks receive a gift card from razor for the amount purchased and as this was on sale it wouldnt even be enough to get another one of these.

So currently waiting on replacement number 3. I asked around after going through this and it seems to be a pretty notorious issue with this key board. Fingers crossed for replacement #3.

When the keyboard was working it worked really well and was pretty customizable. I want to start by saying, Razer Customer Service has been absolutely fantastic throughout my issues. That's why I'm giving it 4 stars.I bought my original Chroma BlackWidow on 12/26/14. I've had to exchange it twice as of 8/17/15. I wanted to give a brief warning of my experience with this product.

Prior to my Chroma, I had the BlackWidow Ultimate 2012. It has been a fantastic keyboard, and currently what I am using while my RMA is being processed. I wanted to upgrade to a Chroma Epic mouse and keyboard, so I bought both at the same time.I'm very careful with my expensive products and ensure I don't spill/drop anything on my stuff. That being said, around April, I noticed my W, S, D, E, C. And R keys were a slightly different color from the rest of my keyboard. I tried to adjust the color through Synapse and it continued to stay the same amount of hue away from the rest of the keys.

If my keys were Blue the mismatched keys would be Green. I contacted Razer, and after they verified my purchase (keep your Amazon Emails/Proof of Purchase) they approved my exchange. I got my new keyboard and was pleased with the Customer Service.I noticed right away something was a bit off with my exchanged keyboard. It would randomly disconnect and reconnect. Not too annoying unless I was in the middle of a MOBA. But then after a month or two my M3 customization key did the same thing of turning Red when my keyboard was purple. As I cycled the colors the M3 key would change color but not the same color as the rest of the keyboard.

After verifying with Razer customer service that it wasn't my Synapse Profiles or any software issues, they allowed my second exchange without any hassle.I'm currently waiting for my 3rd keyboard and hope it will be defect free. It seems that the LEDs have some kind of weird issue that causes them to register the wrong color. I may be a rare case, but expect some issues with the keyboard. Razer Customer Service has been wonderful with my exchanges. Hopefully your experience will be better than mine.The Keyboard itself is really nice. I light the matte finish over the gloss. A typical Mechanical keyboard.

The Synapse LED options are pretty cool, especially the reactive setting. I've never been a fan of mechanical keyboards, however when I got this keyboard I was really impressed and don't want to go back, I love the tactile feedback when you press keys, the lighting looks fantastic, not to mention great software to customize lighting if you want. Love the use port on the side, at first I thought it would be useless however it's really convenient! Also some people don't like the plastic 'feel' of the keyboard and they prefer aluminium, but I feel like it makes it more ridged and it feels like really good quality!

My only complaint is the box that splits the cables from the single thick one to USB is really bulky and if you drill a hole through your desk it has to be quite large for it to fit through, other then that, no complaints! I have really enjoyed this keyboard.

I was picking between this and the Corsair, but ended up going with the Razer based on software ease and i like the green switches that Razer has.-The software for lighting is great. Very easy to use and lets you have so many different layouts.-Keys feel solid under you fingers. There is a noticeable click but i like the feedback that they give you. I would say for an all day typer this may get a bit annoying after hours. For gaming, web browsing and all other uses its great.-The D key did come not functional when i tested the keyboard. I removed the key and inspected the switch but nothing seemed broken or missing.

I removed the keyboard form the computer, restarted and plugged it back in and it is working fine. Have not noticed it not registering again.- The software is also very bulky and does require a Razer login to save all data to their cloud for the keyboard. Meh may be bothersome for people but almost everything has moved to cloud now.4/5 for large driver software, D key not working right away, and i wish the macro keys on the left were just a bit father out (maybe 1/2in) from the other keys on the keyboard.

Here's my review of the Razer Chroma,This is definitely the most expensive keyboard that I've ever purchased so I had very high expectations from it, and I was very satisfied. This keyboard is more for upgrading the cosmetics than it is functional. It takes up 2 usb ports, has a meager 5 programmable keys. Also,in order to turn volume up and down you have the function keys require you take your hand off your mouse to hold it down, and your left hand to adjust up and down. They should be in better spots. My biggest pet peeves are the that it you have to push down further with your fingers to get it to recognize keystrokes, because the keys sit so high, and the response isn't triggered until you strike the key all the way down to the absolute bottom. So it actually takes a lot longer then a lot of keyboards to recognize keystrokes; counter opposite to what it was meant to do.

I play a lot of fps,mmo,mobas that require fast keystrokes. There is no noticeable difference switching from the non-mechanical gaming keyboards I use, such as the logitech Gxxx series. If you're expecting faster response rates, I would save your money unless you're are dead set on having color leds. Very pleased with this keyboard.

Construction is solid. It isn't too large a device, while not feeling cramped. The bundled software is lightweight and easy to use.The color functions are terrific. Highly customizable lighting, with each key having individual options for the colors and effects. I have mine set up so that the gaming/number/function keys are highlighted in different colors while all the other keys light up for a moment when I press them. It's a very cool effect, as it should be for the extra $60 for the Chroma version.The clicking noise is pronounced (and, I suspect, artificially boosted for effect). I kind of like it and it's fine at home, but I would not use this keyboard if I sat in a shared office space.

A reasonable coworker would be annoyed by the volume of of the key presses.It will take a while to get used to the key spacing - I've noticed that the left shift key is longer than it is on most keyboards and it kind of throws your touch-typing off a little until you get used to the difference. Pretty much a standard issue with a new keyboard.Overall, great product.

I purchased this extremely cool keyboard after I saw it as a giveaway for an event on Twitter because I liked the form and color backlight capabilities, plus the spectrum that it's capable of.A few things to consider: It will need 2 USB ports and an audio in/out port if you want to use the connectors on the right hand side of the keyboard. This is comparable to a Corsair K70 keyboard, but this has plastic keys instead of the aluminum keys on the Corsair.

Additionally, the Razer Synapse driver allows a lot of configuration granularity regarding the color effects, which was the main reason I purchased this, but the main thing I don't like about it is that you need to create an account with the vendor and it wants to be internet connected right out of the gate when setting it up. However, I was aware of that from other comments when I purchased it. Supposedly this is something Razer does to enable synchronization of customized settings on their peripherals across different devices. Eset internet security 12 license key. The box the keyboard comes in is almost as nice as the keyboard itself. Shiny metallic embossed text, a view window to show off the arrow keys, and a list of all the important stuff on the back.

A few noteworthy ones worth mentioning on the MX Green keys:Actuation point: 1.9mmActuation force: 50gLife span: 60 million keystrokesQualitatively, this means the keys are more durable and require less force to trigger them. As for sound, this keyboard is pretty much the definition of 'clicky'.

Every time a key is pressed, you hear a nice, audible click that can be heard through headphones (Creative Fatal1ty HS-800, an aviation headset with make and model markings worn off, and a really uncomfortable ENHANCE GX-H1). Even if you are running a 100% noise blocking setup, you will feel each keystroke.Upon unboxing, a braided cable with a rubber bend protector can be seen coming from the top center of the board. This is great for improving the lifespan of the cable. The cable splits about 15' from the other end into a 3.5cm mic, 3.5cm headphone, and two USBs (keyboard and 2 port hub connector).

They are all gold plated, which makes the audio part sound better (no difference as far as I can tell on the USB, other than aesthetics) and labeled in case you only need a few of them.The design of the board is also good. Keys have a cyberpunk style font and are spaced a good distance apart. The 5th macro key is easy to mistake for Ctrl when you are starting out, so run a few practice games to get a feel for it before playing competitively. Still way better than the silent Alienware keyboard I had before this one. As for the lights, the keyboard defaults to a spectrum shift, where all keys are the same color and it slowly changes color across its spectrum in a loop. Unfortunately, this is where the problem begins.The first major issue is in the Num Lk, Scr Lk, and Caps Lk indicators. They are so din, you may just as well consider them nonexistent.

Sure, a small popup in the bottom right of the screen will come up if you press one of them, but you really need to focus to see them. Not so great for passwords. The next issue is that only the primary (non-shift) symbols are lit, so!@#$%^&. and all the others are not.

This is not such a huge issue, but some may have complaints. The issue I have to touch on most is the software that is REQUIRED to alter the colors on the board.My biggest issue is that you NEED TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT on Razer Synapse with your email (and let it go online) TO TWEAK ANYTHING from color patterns to macro settings.

They advertise it is so you can import your settings from one keyboard to another easily, and synch other Chroma devices to the same color scheme, but I found it extremely unnecessary. It's like having to log in to Microsoft's website to open your Control Panel.

Once you are registered though, it isn't too hard since it automatically logs in and goes silent in the background. The color schemes and patterns they give you are pretty cool though.

They are:-Breathing: slow pulse that fades in and out-Reactive: lights go out, and each key you click changes color and fades back to black. Think of the scene from Avatar (blue monkey version) where they were running on the bioluminescent forest floor and it would light up, then disappear.-Static: solid color, nothing fancy-Wave: rainbow goes across the keyboard. Reminds me of the old Runescape font effect.-Custom: allows you to recolor each key individually.

Has presets for popular games such as DOTA, League of Legends, Starcraft II, and MMO games like WoW.Macros can be recorded like you would expect. The Fn key allows you to cycle through profiles, so you can have way more than 5 macros programmed, and you can hotswap key colorings without needing to reopen Synapse.In summary:Overall impression: Good. 4/5 star product, considering what you pay for it.Pros:-Nice design-Cool box-Quality cable-Lots of fun with colors-Island keys with raised parts on F and J keys for alignment.-ClickyCons:-Requires software to do anything with macros and color that requires account to run-Lock indicators incredibly dim-Symbols not lit up-Macro keys very close to others.
